“This tiny cafe has transformed a busy corner of Mount Lawley by serving brilliant comfort food and sublime coffee. The secret here is presenting simple Italian accented dishes using quality fresh ingredients that are perfectly cooked. Find yourself a booth or one of the small tables with bentwood chairs in the main area, or spill outside, even to the nearby arcade -but find yourself a table. A plate of San Daniele prosciutto is presented with char- grilled sourdough; a cauliflower, roast garlic and spinach risotto is full of flavour and cooked to perfection; a neatly packed serve of spaghetti is laced with a grilled eggplant, tomato and garlic sauce enlivened by just the right chilli kick – the best pasta dish I’ve eaten in Perth. At night, all the pasta is house-made and the dishes are more substantial. Although the menu is still small, the range of possibilities is wide. Service is obliging and the admirable wine list focuses on Italy, Spain and Portugal, with some Australian examples of vareties from those countries”.
